Mayor S. Ravinder Singh launched a scathing attack against Karimnagar former MP Ponnam Prabhakar for making false and baseless allegations regarding sanction of pensions under the ‘Aasara’ scheme.
Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, he said the TRS government was providing more pensions to beneficiaries than the Congress government. Stating that the Congress had earmarked only Rs. 1,000 crore for pensions in the budget, he said the TRS government allocated Rs. 4,000 crore. The government has also allocated Rs. 2,000 for food security cards in the State, he added.
During the Congress regime, there were only 800 beneficiaries in Karimnagar town, he said adding that they so far have sanctioned pensions to 9,500 beneficiaries in the town and more eligible persons would be added soon. He also said they have simplified the process of securing death certificates through bill collectors for the benefit of widows.
Ridiculing the former MP for making allegations that the pensions of Congress supporters were being removed, he said the former MP was making such allegations only to remain in news. He asked him to disclose the details of Congress supporters, who were denied pensions in the district.
He alleged that the Congress government had sanctioned Indiramma houses only to party supporters during the first and second the phase. He suggested that the Congress leader should mend his ways and support the government.
