Masula port: modified DPR, plan approved

In a significant step towards development of Machilipatnam Port, the Andhra Pradesh Government approved its modified Detailed Project Report (DPR) and Revised Master Plan (RMP) on Thursday paving the way for its completion by 2021–22 according to a Government Order (GO).

The Government has contemplated setting up of an oil refinery of 15 MTPA capacity, a naphtha cracker unit and various industries near the port and in its hinterland.

An Australian power giant expressed interest in setting up 5000 MW coal-based thermal power project near Machilipatnam.

Machilipatnam Port was mentioned as the nearest point for importing coal for two thermal power plants with a combined capacity of 7600 MW proposed to be established by Telangana Government in Nalgonda district.

The Machilipatnam Port Limited had projected a traffic of 44.85 MTPA for 2017-18 (Phase-I Stage-I) and 100 MTPA by 2021-2022 for overall phase-I (Stage-I & Stage-II).

Project is targeted to be completed by 2021-22
