A man, identified as Shankar, set himself ablaze in the presence of State BJP chief G.Kishan Reddy at a meeting organised by the BJP in Nalgonda district on Wednesday night to mark one year of the BJP rule in Centre.

The victim, believed to be a Congress worker, had come to submit a memorandum to the BJP state chief on an issue concerning his village.

As Mr. Reddy began to speak, Shankar poured kerosene and set himself afire.

He was rushed to the local headquarters hospital.
