July 29, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:11 am IST - WARANGAL:

Commemorating the centennial celebrations, the Lions Club International is planning to set up an eye hospital at Jangaon at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh, as well as a dialysis centre in Warangal this year.

Governor elect Prof. V Gopal Reddy said they have planned to take up a series of charity activities this year, beginning with training 1,000 youth in 20 select schools. A total of 35 teachers were being trained for the purpose. “A short course with 40 lessons designed by U.S. institutes will be taught. The topics include self-confidence, developing critical thinking, learning to serve others, setting goals, and communication skills, among others,” he said.

The club members propose to strengthen 50 government schools by equipping them with drinking water purifiers, LCD projectors, donating educational charts, construction of toilets, and by conducting medical camps beginning next month.

On July 30 when the new body gets elected, the club would donate 300 dual desks to various government schools in the district.
