Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appreciated the mountaineer Malavath Poorna who scaled the Mount Everest and asked her feelings when she recorded the great achievement at a young age.

Interacting with her here and with other students in different States through videoconference from New Delhi on the eve of the Teachers' Day celebrations, on Friday, the Prime Minister said that parents give birth to children and teachers shape their life. Thus, the role of teachers in giving the best future to children was very significant, he said.

When Poorna, a student of Social Welfare Residential School at Tadwai mandal headquarters asked that who influenced his life mostly, Mr. Modi said that his parents, teachers and several other gurus shaped his life. The Prime Minister interacted with each student not more than one minute.

The opportunity came only to Poorna in the State though 20 students were brought to the NIC Centre at Pragathi Bhavan here. Since Mr. Modi began his interaction with Poorna the Xth Standard student initially faltered a little bit. The residential school authorities apparently had not prepared her for the interaction.

The rest of the students with whom Prime Minister interacted mostly were from corporate schools. Poorna, a tribal Lambada girl belongs to a remote Pakala village of Sirikonda mandal conquered the Mount Everest along with another student belonging to Khammam last year. Mr. Modi greeted teachers on the occasion.
