KU still looking for a regular V-C

April 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - WARANGAL:

With the appointment of IAS officer T. Chiranjeevulu as in-charge Vice-Chancellor, employees and students of Kakatiya University hope that administration would be back on rails.

The term of the regular vice-chancellor ended on May 17, 2014, and since then the university is without a regular vice- chancellor.

Sometimes officers, and sometimes academics were heading the university as in-charges.

In the absence of regular vice-chancellor, the academic and general administration has gone for a toss.

Ph.D admissions

The admissions for Ph.D programme continue to be on hold while pre-PhD examinations for those already admitted are yet to be conducted.

After the tenure of Prof. B. Venkataratnam ended on May 17, three persons acted as in-charge vice-chancellors -- IAS officers Vikas Raj and R.M. Dobriyal, and then Prof. B. Veera Reddy of Satavahana University.

Meanwhile, during his recent tour to the district, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan told newsmen that government is contemplating to appoint persons of competence as vice-chancellor and that the decision would be taken soon. But nothing has been heard since then.

The administration remains paralysed with employees remaining divided on every count.

Kakatiya University was accorded ‘A’ grade by 2009 National Assessment and Accreditation Council and the university submitted a report to NAAC in 2014 seeking reaccreditation.
