Minister for Panchayat Raj, IT and Rural Water Supply K.T. Rama Rao along with the officials of RWS and PR Departments, visited several areas of Gujarat on Saturday and examined the functioning of the drinking water grid and e-panchayat project.

He met Gujarat Water Board chairman Rajiv K. Gupta and discussed the capacity of pipes used in the grid, project design, quality standards and technology used, particularly in taking water from the Narmada dam to different areas.

Earlier, he interacted with ‘pani samithi’ members and enquired about the quality and quantity of water being supplied, and people’s response.

At Amarpur village of Manas taluka in Gandhinagar district, the Minister examined the citizen services being extended under the e-panchayat project and sought to know the difference between the existing and previous systems. In a meeting with officials on e-panchayat, the Minister enquired about the software and communication systems being used in the project.

Mr. Rama Rao exuded confidence that the e-panchayat and water grid in Telangana would be developed as a model for other States. On Sunday, the Minister will visit the large trunk line piping system used to draw water from Narmada dam.

Engineer-in-Chief of RWS B. Surender Reddy, Balkonda MLA Prashanth Reddy and several other officials accompanied the Minister, according to reports.
