Kinnerasani reservoir almost full

September 26, 2016 12:00 am | Updated November 01, 2016 09:02 pm IST - KHAMMAM:

The water level in Kinnerasani reservoir in Palvancha mandal continued to hover around 406 feet, against the maximum level of 407 feet, owing to heavy inflows from the catchment areas of the reservoir spanning several mandals in both Khammam and Warangal districts.

Notwithstanding some let up in rains in Palvancha mandal, particularly the Yanambailu village, where the reservoir is located, continuous rain in the upstream areas of the Kinnerasani river, mainly spread in Narsampet mandal of Warangal district, resulted in substantial inflows into the reservoir, sources said. As the reservoir almost reached its full capacity, the authorities kept open a crest gate of the dam for the second consecutive day to let out surplus water downstream.
