Search operations to trace Madakam Tirupati, the missing Adivasi youth of Kaliveru in Charla mandal, who was reportedly abducted by suspected Maoists near the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border on Wednesday night, continued on Friday.

Acting on specific information that a body, suspected to be that of the abducted youth, was sighted near Yerrampadu, the police have launched search operations in the areas surrounding the village on Thursday.

However, they could not trace any corpse in the vicinity of the forest fringe village till Friday morning, sources said.

According to sources, the missing youth is believed to have been held by the suspected rebels in their stronghold on the Chhattisgarh side of the inter-State border.

Sources said that the father of Tirupati was allegedly killed by the rebels by branding him as police informer six years ago.
