The elections are over in Telangana, and now buzz is on possible Cabinet reshuffle. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi leaders rule out the shifting of Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari from Cabinet to council as Chairman.

A senior leader of the ruling party said Mr. Kadiyam Srihari was personally chosen by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his inclusion added value to the State Cabinet. “Mr. Srihari is viewed as mature politician with good grasp of things. Moreover, he has clean image. He would be more useful to Government being in Cabinet rather out of it,” he opined.

After the entry of senior MLA Errabelli Dayakar Rao, there were rumours that he would be inducted into Cabinet. Party long-time leader and three times MLA D. Vinay Bhaskar was also aspiring for a Cabinet berth while the demand from Warangal East MLA Konda Surekha was also on.

Power balance in Warangal

It was opined that to balance power in the district, the Chief Minister might be required to reshuffle his Cabinet. It might force him to take some hard decisions to move in and move out some ministers.

Of all the ministers who joined from the TDP, come with experience which might help the State Government deliver effectively the promises made on the eve of elections. Of them, Kadyiam Srihari was one apart from Thummala Nageswar Rao and Talasani Srinivas Yadav.

Moreover, Mr. Srihari has the experience of handling various portfolios such as irrigation, social welfare and education.

It was also viewed that shifting Mr. Srihari might create a furore among the dalit community given his clean image and good background. The remarks made by Mr. Srihari on the rumours send a strong signal that he was in no mood to accept the much talked post of chairperson of Legislative Council.
