The BJP State president G. Kishan Reddy on Monday criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for promising anything and everything. He said people wondered whether the Chief Minister was doing so consciously or otherwise.
Membership driveLaunching the party’s membership drive in Adilabad district from Indervelli mandal head quarter village, Mr. Kishan Reddy recounted the promises which Mr. Rao as president of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) made during the election. He said the latter had failed in waiver of crop loans as promised besides failing in giving relief to students by way of fee reimbursement.
He said that over 400 farmers have committed suicide in Telangana since the formation of the State.
He said about 90 of them hailed from Medak district represented by the Chief Minister.
Earlier, Mr. Kishan Reddy handed over membership cards to about 1,000 persons who freshly enrolled themselves into the party.
BJP district president Ayyanagari Bhumaiah and Bharatiya Kisan Morcha district president Deepak Singh Shekhawat also participated.
‘No effort’Special Correspondent from Warangal adds: The TRS government has failed to infuse confidence among the farmers over the loan waiver and as a result the suicides are continuing in the State, said BJP MLA NVVS Prabhakar.
The farmers remained sceptic and so also the old-age pension beneficiaries. Six months is good enough a time for the government to show its work.
But people remain doubtful on many things. Old age people who have been expecting pensions apprehend that they may lose the facility,” the BJP MLA said. The ruling TRS government was no different from that of the late YSR.
The Chief Minister and Minister T Harish Rao went on hurling profanities at former Chief Minister late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy but they have been doing the same. The government was trying to help the contractors of SLBC works and regularised the lands secured illegally by some people.
“They criticised Rajasekhar Reddy for selling away lands to mobilise money. Now the TRS government is planning to do the same to mobilise money,” Mr Prabhakar pointed out. Similarly, the TRS leaders who objected to Metro Rail route have now compromised on the alignment issue.
The BJP district president A Ashok Reddy, senior leader N Venugopal Reddy and others were present.
