KCR calls on Devendra Fadnavis to thrash out inter-state issues

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao along with a delegation of Ministers, MPs and officials called on his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on Tuesday to discuss the inter-state issues on a few irrigation projects in Telangana.

Ministers T. Harish Rao and Jogu Ramanna, MPs A.P. Jithender Reddy, K. Keshava Rao and B. Vinod Kumar, Parliamentary Secretary J. Venkat Rao, Advisor to Government R. Vidyasagar Rao, MLC Karne Prabhakar and few officials of the CMO were participating in the meeting that commenced around 4.15 pm.

The two Chief Ministers are expected to discuss the contentious issues related to Pranahita-Chevella, Lendi, Lower Pengaga, Inchampally and a few check-dams taken up across Godavari and its tributaries in Telangana. The two leaders would try to thrash out differences on the height of barrages and reservoirs as part of the irrigation projects as the area of their submergence is spreading into Maharashtra.

Mr. Rao and Mr. Fadnavis are also expected to discuss Telangana’s plea to buy power from Maharashtra and seek its help in early completion of the Wardha-Dichpally power transmission line to purchase power from the northern and western grids.

Earlier, Mr. Rao cut a cake on his 61st birthday in Raj Bhavan there in the presence of Maharashtra Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao and the First Lady of that State besides the delegation from Telangana. The Maharashtra Governor also hosted a lunch for Mr. Rao and the visiting delegation.

In the wee hours of the day, the Chief Minister offered prayers at the famous Siddhi Vinayak temple in Mumbai as part of Sivaratri celebrations. Mr. Rao, who turned 61 on Tuesday, visited the temple at Prabhadevi and offered special prayers and the temple priests blessed him, according to Chief Minister’s office.

Back in Telangana, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi rank and file organised the birthday celebrations of Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao, who is also the party chief, across the State by organising various programmes. A cake was cut in Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters in the presence of Energy Minister G. Jagadish Reddy and Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha. A blood donation camp was also organised there on the occasion.

Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari and others cut cake at the Warangal TRS party office and wished the Chief Minister good health. Later, Mr. Srihari offered special prayers in a few temples there.

In Hyderabad, Deputy Chief Minister Md. Mahamood Ali visited Yousufian Dargah in Nampally and offered prayers.
