Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has announced that the State government would issue orders to include Kayitha or Mathura Lambadas, predominantly living in Banswada and Yellareddy Assembly constituencies, and Valmiki community in the Schedule Tribe (ST) category.
Addressing a public meeting attended by a good number of Lambadas here on Thursday after launching Mission Kakatiya, Mr. Rao said that after including there two communities in ST category, its population would go up to 11.5 per cent. The government would then enact a law in the Assembly giving 12 per cent reservation to STs in both education and employment. Showering sops on Yellareddy constituency represented by Enugu Ravinder Reddy in the Assembly, Mr. Rao said that as he had promised earlier, he would carve out Kamareddy district after delimitation of Assembly constituencies as mentioned in the State Reorganisation Act. As a result, the Assembly constituencies in Nizamabad district would go up to 13 from the present nine and each district will have six to seven constituencies after the two districts were formed, he said. The Chief Minister also said that the government would sanction government agriculture polytechnic college at Malthummada and ITI at Tadwai; upgrade the hospital at Yellareddy to 100 beds and sanction of Rs. 50 lakh each to six mandal headquarters and Rs. 5 lakh each to 100 villages in the Assembly constituency for laying CC roads. As Rs. 37 lakh earmarked for restoration of tanks was not sufficient, the government would sanction Rs. 1 crore from the Chief Minister’s Fund, he said and assured them of water for irrigation from Pranahitha-Chevella project.
Meanwhile, responding to the appeal made by the Chief Minister to donate money for Mission Kakatiya, philanthropists Dodda Mohan Rao from Warangal, Solipuram Ram Reddy and Indrasena Reddy from Nalgonda announced to donate Rs. 1.50 crore, Rs. 6 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh respectively for the project. They handed over the cheques to the Chief Minister during the public meeting.
