Serpentine queues were seen at Shaivite temples, including the famous Neelakanteswar temple, before the crack of dawn on Saturday as devotees made their way in for darshan on the auspicious occasion of Karthika Pournami.
The temple premises reverberated with chants of ‘Shambo Sankara’ and ‘Hara Hara Mahadeva’ as the devotees, some of whom had started pouring in since Friday night, lit lamps and offered prayers.
Member of Parliament K. Kavitha along with her husband Anil performed puja at the Neelakanteswar temple.
Meanwhile, the Sikh community observed Guru Nanak Jayanthi, the 549th birth anniversary celebrations of their first guru, Guru Nanak.
They offered prayers at gurudwaras at Gajulpet and Subashnagar.
