Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has promised to develop the historic Sri Kaleshwara Mukteeshwara Swamy temple as international tourist centre and announced Rs.25 crore for the purpose.

“There would be no better setting than the project area with natural resources such water, forest cover, wild animals to develop it as a major tourist attraction. Recreation facilities such as boating would also be provided here to draw tourists”, the Chief Minister said after laying the foundation stone for Kaleshwaram project.

Along with his wife Shoba, the Chief Minister visited the temple early on Monday and offered special prayers. He also offered a golden crown to the goddess Shubananda Devi in the shrine. Completion of Medigadda barrage (Kaleshwaram project) would transform the region with water stored there covering an area of 54 km in the river course.

He also laid foundation stone for construction of pump-house at Kannepalli village near the temple shrine as part of the Kaleshwaram project.
