The internal rivalry between two groups in Khammam District unit of the Telangana Rashtriya Samithi came out in the open in Kothagudem on Friday on the eve of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s two-day tour of the district.

According to sources, tension broke out in the three-town area when the TRS cadres of two separate groups entered into an altercation after they competed with each other to put up flexi banners welcoming Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao at some strategic locations in the coal town.

One of the members of a group owing allegiance to a local leader allegedly removed the flexi banner of another group claiming that they had obtained prior permission from the authorities to erect the banners at a particular place.

A minor scuffle ensued between the two rival groups, following which the senior party leaders of Kothagudem intervened and brought the situation under control.
