Inter-State robbery gang busted in Nizamabad

Police led by Nizamabad Rural (north) Circle Inspector N. Buchaiah busted an inter-State road robbery gang comprising six offenders and recovered two SUVs, ₹23,000 and two mobile phones from them at Nagepur village under Navipet police station limits in Nizamabad-Basar route, early on Saturday.

The offenders all aged between 22 and 28 years were identified as Mohammed Imran, Anwar Khan, Mohammed Tayyab, Shaik Rafiq, Shaik Masthan and Mohammed Amir Qureshi. Imran, Tayyab and Amir Qureshi belong to Deglur taluq of Nanded district while the rest are residents of Nizamabad town.

Presenting all the six persons before the newsmen here on Sunday Assistant Commissioner of Police D. Anand Kumar said that the police stumbled upon a vehicle in which Imran, Tayyab and Qureshi were travelling during the routine vehicle checking. They tried to escape the police but were caught because of their suspicious movements.

In the interrogation the offenders confessed to their crimes and with the clues given by them the remaining three Anwar Khan, Shaik Rafiq and Masthan were also arrested.

Earlier, on the basis of a complaint lodged by Dulabhai Makwana of Amreli district in Gujarat that the offenders stopped his lorry carrying cattle feed at Fakeerabad on September 22 night and robbed ₹24,000 from him the Navipet police registered a case on the following day.

Mr.Anand said that they also confessed to the property offences committed in Varni police station limits in the district and Mudhole and Dilwarapur stations limits in Nirmal district.
