The creativity of students came to the fore at the district-level science exhibition of the INSPIRE (Innovation in science pursuit for inspired research) award exhibits at the Alphores High School at Kothapalli on the outskirts of Karimnagar.

The three-day exhibition was inaugurated by Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies Etala Rajender on Sunday evening in the presence of Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma, local legislator Gangula Kamalakar and others. The students of Karimnagar, Jagtial and Sircilla division are taking part in the exhibition where more than 540 exhibits were on display. Students designed some thought-provoking models.

For instance, the students of ZPHS Chandoli in Gollapalli mandal had designed a model called “automatic engine locking system for drunken driving”. Under this model, an apparatus if brought to the vicinity of the driver in inebriated condition, would automatically turn off the engine of the vehicle. Following the series of incidents of children falling into borewells, the students of Alphores High School Vavilalapalli designed a novel “Borewell rescue robot”, which would be inserted into the borewell along with camera and oxygen and bring out the child struck up underneath the borewell. This robot would be of immense use to rescue the child stuck in a borewell.

A student of ZPHS Polasa had designed a novel mechanical swing pump wherein a person can water his fields by using the swing. The students of government high school in Dhargarwadi had designed double crop in single area and single time for more benefits to the farming community.

Of course, there were many models on the use of solar energy, bio-gas and other environmental issues.
