Suryapet town Inspector Y. Mogiliah, who was shot twice by SIMI operatives at Suryapet bus station in the early hours of April 4, rejoined duties here on Wednesday.

He said he would continue to discharge his duties with the same spirit. Among the four cops who frisked the SIMI operatives, Mr. Mogiliah and Home Guard Kishore survived, though they too had received bullet injuries. Mogiliah’s body guard and Constable M. Lingaiah and Home Guard K. Mahesh were killed on the spot. “It is sad that I lost two of my colleagues in Suryapet, and two others during the gun battle with SIMI operatives at Janakipuram,” he said.

“I was lucky to have surv-ived,” he said, thanking pol-sice officials and the government for providing treatment soon after the attack.
