Home Guards Association State president Sakinala Narayana ended his 13-day hunger strike at RIMS Hospital, Adilabad after he was persuaded by the Telangana Joint Action Committee on Sunday to do so in view of his failing health.

Mr. Narayana had commenced an indefinite fast at Asifabad in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district on September 19 demanding increase in salary and regularisation of jobs of home guards as promised by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao during the last election campaign.

Joint Action Committee Adilabad district president Durgam Rajeshwar and others gave him a glass of lime juice to end the protest. Mr. Rajeshwar said JAC State Chairman M. Kodandaram had assured the protesting leader to support the demands of the home guards and wage a joint struggle in future.
