The Apex Council of Hyderabad Cricket Association, at its meeting here, named former Executive Director of APSRTC Panduranga Murthy as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), according to chairman of the Council and president of HCA G. Vivekanand.

“We are following by-laws that were passed on January 7. The law says we need a Chief Executive Officer. And Mr. Murthy has been appointed in view of his 25 years of experience in management. We at the Apex Council have decided on three months on ad-hoc basis to run the affairs of the HCA,” he informed.

“We are determined to tap talent in rural areas and provide them a platform. So, we went ahead with the Venkataswamy Telangana T20 Memorial Tournament. We have seen five centuries hit by the rural cricketers. Given this, the tournament is proving to be a boon to the rural cricket scene. We didn’t expect this to be such a great success,” he said.

“The Anti-Corruption Bureau from BCCI, that came here to assess the tournament, lauded us for conducting the tournament in a transparent manner. They were happy to see the way we conducted the tournament following the Anti-Corruption Code,” the HCA chief said.

“Many are trying to use my name to indulge in false propaganda. They said we have not been implementing the CoA recommendations. The IPL was successfully conducted and the CoA were happy. I request everyone to make HCA a strong cricket association. Don’t spread wrong rumours,” he said.
