Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader T. Harish Rao, who is also the Minister for Irrigation and Marketing, has said that the opposition parties are criticising the party and the State government only to prove their existence.
Instead of appreciating the government for its initial strides in the face of adverse conditions being compounded by the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh Government, the opposition parties were criticising the TRS government only to score over other leaders in their parties, Mr. Rao said addressing a press conference here on Tuesday.
Rebutting the criticism of the TRS government by Congress leaders K. Jana Reddy and Ponnala Lakshmaiah and BJP leader G. Kishan Reddy, Mr. Harish Rao said the government had taken 43 decisions towards fulfilling promises made in the election manifesto in less than two months of assuming charge. That they were able to make a good start with skeletal staff was appreciable by any standards, he felt.
The government was being run only with 70 civil services officers against the requirement of 330 and every officer was holding charge of multiple portfolios, he explained. At the same time, the AP government was trying to create problems to Telangana government with the help of Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu every day, he alleged.
Sania issueMr. Harish Rao asked Congress leaders to make clear their party’s stand on regularisation of contract employees and government drive against illegal construction, misuse/disuse of land allotted by government for intended purposes and land grabbing. He made it clear that regularisation of contract staff was in the TRS manifesto and it was fulfilling it. Turning to Mr. Kishan Reddy, the TRS leader reminded him that it was BJP that had run a campaign on girl child protection with tennis player Sania Mirza in the past but making an issue out of nothing over her appointment as the brand ambassador of Telangana.
