Minister for Irrigation and Marketing T. Harish Rao has made it clear that the Government will not brook any negligence and corruption in the implementation of ‘Mission Kakatiya’ programme.
“We are involving people for effective implementation of the scheme and reducing corrupt practices in it. With the Mission Kakatiya, irrigation tanks in Telangana will gain their historic glory turning the rural economy vibrant,” he said while addressing a public meeting on the dried up bed of Mallaram tank at Lingampally Kurdu village in Lingampet mandal on Friday.
Appealing to people to extend cooperation by engaging tractors themselves to shift fertile alluvial tank soil to their fields, he said that the Government would take care of providing JCBs and financial assistance to sprinkle the soil on the fields. There would not be any kind of political intervention in the finalisation of tenders and also in the work execution, he said.
If need be, the Government is prepared to allocate Rs. 1 crore for the renovation of each tank. With the amount tank, bund, sluices and weirs would be strengthened, fertile soil shifted to agriculture fields and waste material -cleared, he added.
26,000 cr. to be spent
There are a record number of 46,000 irrigation tanks in Telangana, which was the highest in the country. For which, a total of Rs.26,000 crore would be spent in the next four years.
Mission Kakatiya, Water Grid and laying road connecting all parts in the State are of top priority to the Government, he said.
Coming down heavily on the previous Congress government, Mr. Harish Rao attributed the present plight of power supply to its misrule. Saying that after four years the State would become a power surplus one, he wanted to know as to what had Mohammed Ali Shabbir, being Minister for Electricity, done to improvise power position.
Earlier, accompanied by Yellareddy legislator Enugu Ravinder Reddy, Mr. Harish Rao went round Oora Cheruvu in Tadwai mandal and Mothe tank in Lingampet mandal.
