The services of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule will be remembered forever, Legislative Council Chairman K. Swami Goud said.
Participating in the Mahatma’s 191st birth anniversary programme held at the district headquarters on Tuesday, Mr. Swami Goud said that Phule had focused on providing education to the people with a strong belief that only education can address their problems.
The government has allocated ₹5,000 crore for BC Welfare in the budget, the Chairman of the Telangana Legislative Council said. The Government was planning to set up 119 more residential schools in addition to the existing 23.
MLA Chinta Prabhakar, ZP chairman Rajamani Murali Yadav, Collector Manickraj Kannan and others participated.

Deputy Speaker M. Padma Devender Reddy paid rich floral tributes to Jyotirao Phule at Medak and said that Mahatma Phule waged war against social inequalities and injustice and this was the time for the youth to follow his footsteps. “With the spirit of Phule we have introduced sub-plan for backward castes and hostels for girls. We are also making efforts to rejuvenate the caste-based professions,” she said.
