‘Prepare the details of farmers who lost crop’

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao has assured the farmers of the government coming to their rescue and asked them not to lose hope.

Along with District Collector P. Venkataram Reddy and other officials Mr. Harish Rao visited Ellupally, Bakrichepyala and Nancharupally villages on Monday and interacted with farmers who lost their crop due to hailstorm for the past two days.

“Do not lose hope and trust. I will take this issue to the notice of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and see that you get compensation along with crop subsidy,” Mr. Harish Rao told the farmers adding that the government had extended an assistance of ₹11 crore to farmers who lost crops due to hailstorm last year.

He has directed the officials to prepare the details of farmers who lost crop and to which extent within next two days.

Initially it was estimated that paddy in 2,611 hectares, mango in 800 hectares and vegetables in 300 hectares was lost and the exact assessment would be made in the next two days.
