The Telangana Congress on Sunday accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao of making wasteful expenditure by way of advertising about Rythu Bandhu programme in national TV news channels.

“He is spending our money in hundreds of crores to advertise the programme across the country though no other State is connected with it,” Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged.

The Congress leader was critical of the way the Rythu Bandhu programme was being implemented in the State. He said about 14 lakh farmers were being deprived of the benefits due to some hitch or the other.

He was addressing a public meeting at Mancherial as part of the Praja Chaitanya Yatra undertaken by his party. The yatra resumed after a break from Mancherial.

Mr. Reddy accused the Chief Minister of reneging upon his promise to allocate one tmcf of water from Yellampalli Project to Mancherial town.

“Congress is coming to power and we will supply the one tmcf water to you,” he assured the people.

Predicting a rout of the TRS in the next election owing to Mr. Rao’s reneging on demands of Singareni workers like jobs to dependants of workers, regularising contract workers and reinstating dismissed ones, the TPCC chief pointed out that the Congress will fulfill these demands once in power.

He also reminded that the government had failed to construct houses costing ₹10 lakh each and waiver of income tax as promised by the Chief Minister.

Congress leaders Mallu Batti Vikramarka, K. Jana Reddy, Mohammed Shabbir Ali, D. Sridhar, K. Premsagar Rao, V. Hanumanth Rao, Sabitha Indra Reddy, Suryam, G. Aravind Reddy, A. Maheshwar Reddy and C. Ramchander Reddy also addressed the meeting.
