The State Government has doubled the allocation of funds sanctioned for setting up of Information Technology hub in Nizamabad district.
From the initial allocation of ₹25 crore for developing the IT hub over 25,000 sq.ft, the Government had increased the allocation to ₹50 crore and the IT tower would now be developed on a sprawling 50,000 sq.ft area.
The development comes after Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavita called on IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao at Secretariat on Monday. Mr. Rama Rao handed over the letter of approval to Ms. Kavita on the occasion.
The IT hub had already received expression of interest from over 60 firms and the enhanced allocation would give more leverage for the infrastructure that had been proposed there, Ms. Kavita said.
Office space
She said that according to the revised plan, the IT hub would now have office space of 40,000 sq.ft and an incubator would be set up in the remaining 10,000 sq.ft.
“This will be the second incubator in the State after Hyderabad,” Ms. Kavita said. The Government had conceived an IT hub in Nizamabad as it would provide opportunities to qualified personnel from north Telangana districts like Adilabad, Karimnagar and others.
In addition to the allocations made for the IT hub, work worth ₹200 crore had been taken up in the district for underground drainage system.
Another ₹200 crore was proposed to be spent on communication and connectivity infrastructure in the coming months, making Nizamabad a destination for the IT and IT enabled services companies.
“The city has been listed under the AMRUT scheme of the Central Government. Given its location on the highway connecting Telangana with Maharashtra, it has a lot of potential to offer,” she said.
