Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said that the government was committed to transform Telangana into a rich farmers’ State by bringing numerous reforms for the benefit of farmers.

Participating in the Rythu Samanwaya Samithi (RSS) programme held at Andol on Monday, Mr. Srinivas Reddy said that development of agriculture is crucial for the overall development of the society and that was why the government has been according top priority to agriculture.

“We are trying to restore the self-respect of the farmer by extending the required assistance for them. Farmers across the state would get 24-hour power supply from the next Kharif and majority of the irrigation projects would be completed next year and Godavari water would be made available for farming. Similarly, farmers would be extended an amount of ₹ 4,000 per acre for two crops from next year. Now, it will be the turn of farmers to use the opportunity provided by the government,” he said while addressing the farmers.

He has also informed that farmers’ meeting halls will be established in 2,600 clusters so that they can hold meetings to discuss their problems.

Earlier in the day, a similar meeting was held at Medak, participated by Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao and Deputy Speaker M. Padma Devender Reddy.
