Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan will be visiting Warangal district for two days from Tuesday.
According to district officials, he would go to ancient Ramappa temple at Venkatapur mandal and Kotagullu - the temple complex and tank in Mulug Ghanpur mandal.
He would also visit the Bhadrakali temple and the Thousand Pillar temple in Hanamkonda.
Makeover of heritage monuments
The Governor’s visit assumed importance as the heritage monuments will be witnessing a makeover with the Centre sanctioning Rs.40 crore under the ‘Hriday’ programme.
Warangal was one of the 12 cities identified for the development of monuments by the Central government under the programme.
Plea to UNESCO
The district administration in association with the Kakatiya Heritage Trust and Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage (INTACH) had submitted a request to the UNESCO seeking recognition of Warangal monuments as the World Heritage Sites, according to INTACH convenor Prof. M. Panduranga Rao.
“The visit of Governor would boost our efforts in development of monuments ,” Prof. Rao said.
The district Collector, Vakati Karuna and Superintendent of Police A.K. Jha visited the places.
