Fresh from her title win in the prestigious WTA Tour doubles in Singapore, India’s tennis ace Sania Mirza says she is delighted to keep winning, especially after being named the brand ambassador of Telangana.

“Honestly, I felt honoured when Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao called for a meeting to make the announcement. It is always a nice feeling when the head of the State is one of the first to send a congratulatory message,” said Sania at her academy in Murtuzaguda near Chilkur on Tuesday.

“These are the kind of things any athlete looks for and they are big motivators,” she added.

“I feel great when people ask me about my brand ambassador status, and I am glad [that] by winning major titles I am contributing to promoting the image of my newly-formed State,” the two-time Grand Slam winner said.

“The week before I left for [the] WTA [Tour], the Chief Minister said he would have a meeting soon. I will be glad to discuss a few things which should help our cause,” Sania said.
