GITAM students win national award

Students of aerospace engineering, GITAM University, Hyderabad, won an award in the ‘large-scale multi-disciplinary systems of national significance – trends and challenges’ (LAMSYS-2016) conference.

The national conference was organised by Indian Society of Systems for Science and Engineering (ISSE), Sriharikota, Chennai chapter, in collaboration with ISRO at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, SHAR, Sriharikota, on June 24 and 25.

Durga Jyoti Bandyopadhyay, Kolachina Akhil, and Rachakonda Manish Kumar — final year students of GITAM University — participated as a team and won the best poster award, which was based on their final year project under the guidance of assistant professor S. Kishore Kumar. This poster was titled ‘design fabrication and testing of solid rocket motor grain’. About 38 teams across India were shortlisted for the presentation at the conference. Students from various IITs, NITs, and deemed universities, among others, took part in the event.
