An eight-year-old girl was killed and three women were injured when the car in which they were travelling dashed against a stationary lorry at Uppalachalaka village in Penuballi mandal on Sunday morning.

The car was carrying the members of a trader’s family from Nidubrolu in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh to Bhadrachalam, the famous pilgrimage centre in Telangana, when it met with the accident. Police sources said the driver of the over-speeding car lost control of the vehicle and rammed a lorry parked on the roadside on the outskirts of Uppalachalaka at around 7 am.

Ashmita, 8, daughter of Nagavalli, hailing from Nidubrolu, died on the spot and three women occupants of the car sustained grievous injuries under the impact of the collision. The driver of the car and all other occupants of the vehicle including Nagavalli, who were seated on the right side of the car, escaped unhurt.
