November 27, 2014 10:21 pm | Updated 10:21 pm IST - NIZAMABAD:

District Collector D. Ronald Ross has warned the LPG gas agencies against collecting more money on each cylinder than what was decided by the government. If the agencies were found doing so, appropriate action would be initiated against them, he added.

He suggested to over 4.52 lakh LPG customers in the district to provide their Aadhaar card and bank account number to get Direct Benefit Transfer to LPG (DBTL) to their gas dealership since the scheme would come into force from January 1.

He asked the gas agencies to collect the xerox copies of both the accounts with the help of delivery boys within a week and send the same to the respective banks.

He also asked them to provide applications printed in Telugu and ensure that they would be distributed to the customers.

Reeling out statistics provided by the civil supply authorities, he said there were 1.99 lakh Bharat Gas customers, 1.29 lakh HP connections and 1.22 lakh Indane connections in the district.

The Collector directed the civil supplies and revenue officials to create awareness among people in villages on the DBTL.

Mr. Ross also suggested to the people who were not having Aadhaar card to immediately get one.
