Gang duping Flipkart busted

A four-member gang, duping e-commerce website Flipkart, was nabbed and items valued at Rs.13.60 lakh seized.

City Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said that they had recovered 21 mobile phones valued at Rs.7.10 lakh and Rs. 6.50 lakh in cash from the gang members. The arrested were identified as - G. Srinivasulu Reddy, Md. Fajluddin, J. Ashok Kumar and Sayyad Jaleel - belonging to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.

They used to work for Flipkart in Nellore, during which time they learnt about some of the loopholes they could exploit and earn extra money.

They created fake profiles and ordered items. Then later ask for replacement of the product saying it was a faulty piece. During the process they changed the original product and returned a fake one.

One of the gang members registered himself as Assistant Professor at Kakatiya University by giving a local address and ordered a product and duped the Flipkart.

After recognizing that they had been deceived, the Flipkart lodged a complaint with the Kakatiya University police station. A team lead by Crime ACP K. Eshwar Rao nabbed all the four culprits and recovered the stolen items.
