Furore in TS Assembly over unauthorised persons entering lobbies

March 18, 2015 02:52 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 05:13 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A Zero Hour mention by Congress member D.K. Aruna in the Telangana Assembly that TRS Whip G. Sunitha reportedly facilitated the entry of a liquor baron into the lobbies recently, led to a furore in the House on Wednesday.

Ms. Aruna was referring to a newspaper report about unauthorised persons seen in the Assembly lobbies. Responding to the charge, Ms. Sunitha said that it was improper for the Opposition to make such allegations based on a newspaper report.

The TRS Whip then countered, brandishing another newspaper report that concerned cases of illegal mining by relatives of Ms. Aruna. This led to an uproar, with the Congress members storming the Well, saying such personal allegations could not be made in the House.

Congress members, who came in support of Ms. Aruna, included T. Jeevan Reddy, Ch. Vamsichand, Sampath Kumar. Ajay Kumar Puvvada, G. Chinna Reddy and Ramamohan Reddy.

Finally, the Speaker S. Madhusudhana Chary said that he would verify the records and see that allegations and counter-allegations were expunged. He then called for a tea break and adjourned the House.
