Funds sanctioned for additional classrooms

The long felt need of the students of the Naya Bazar Government High School in the town for additional classrooms is all set to end soon. According to sources, the government has sanctioned Rs. 29.60 lakh for construction of four additional classrooms under the Rajiv Vidya Mission (RVM) on the premises of the school building.

It may be mentioned that various student unions including SFI staged several protest demonstrations resenting alleged poor amenities and congested space and cramped classrooms in the school in the past.

Members of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights have found fault with the poor maintenance of the school building during their visit to the Naya Bazar School last year.

Meanwhile, the reported move of the executing agencies concerned to select a site on the premises of the school playground for construction of the additional classrooms evoked criticism from certain quarters.

Those opposing this reported move have expressed their objections to the authorities and sought construction of the additional classrooms at some other suitable site on the premises of the school building, sources added.

Meanwhile, Minister for Roads & Buildings T Nageswara Rao laid foundation for the four additional classrooms at a function held on the premises of the school here on Monday evening.
