‘30 per cent of works of Mission Bhageeratha completed’

About 30 per cent of the works of the Water Grid Project, Mission Bhageeratha, had been completed so far and the remaining works would be completed in a phased manner by the end of 2018 to ensure piped drinking water supply to every household in the State, said Water Grid Project vice-chairman V Prashanth Reddy.

Mr Reddy, along with Minister for Roads and Buildings T Nageswara Rao, laid the foundation stones for intake wells at Koragutta in Yellendu mandal and at Rathamgutta in Aswapuram mandal under the water grid project in the district on Sunday.

The project encompassing different segments envisages provision of potable drinking water through taps to every household in the district at an estimated cost of Rs 3,558 crore.

Meanwhile, Mr Nageswara Rao inaugurated a lift irrigation scheme on Masivagu rivulet at Gollapalli in Tekulapalli mandal.

The new lift irrigation scheme was completed at an estimated cost of Rs 4.91 crore to irrigate over 530 acres in the mandal.
