Five buried alive at Pulichintala power project

Four labourers and a contractor were buried alive when a mound of mud caved in on them at the Pulichinthala project near Vajinepally village of Mellacheruvu mandal in Nalgonda district on Friday, police said. The mishap took place when the five were doing some work at the under-construction Genco hydel power plant of the project.

The victims have been identified as contractor Gopalakrishna (42), of Mahabubnagar district, Byreddy Govinda Reddy (32), of Vajinepally village, Nandu Kol (20) of Madhya Pradesh, Subbu Sukdey (35) native of West Bengal and Khaleel (29), native of Uttara Pradesh.

Police said as it was raining incessantly, the mud caved in and buried all of them. Kasim Khan, another worker, was rescued by workers in the vicinity. The five bodies were retrieved from the heap of mud by the workers in the vicinity.
