Even as the whereabouts of six TRS leaders of Bhadrachalam Division allegedly kidnapped by Maoists from remote Pusuguppa village on Wednesday night still remained unknown, fresh posters of Maoists urging people to participate in the ensuing “People’s Guerrilla Army (PGA) Week” celebrations surfaced at Suraveedu in Venkatapuram mandal early on Friday.

The abduction of the TRS local leaders including the party Bhadrachalam Constituency in-charge Maane Ramakrishna sparked off panic among the ruling party cadres in agency mandals bordering the strife-ridden areas of neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

The rebels, through a letter released in Charla on Thursday, put forth three demands including an immediate halt to “fake encounters” and combing operations in agency areas.

They issued a direct threat to the ruling party leaders to target them if their demands were not met.

The misery-stricken family members of the two abducted TRS leaders Venkateshwarlu and Suresh of Charla mandal sought the intervention of the Government to ensure safe release of their breadwinners.

They submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Tahasildar in Charla.

Lakshmi, wife of Mane Ramakrishna, appealed to the Maoists to release her husband unharmed keeping in view the miserable plight of their daughters.

The distressed families of the abducted leaders are exploring all channels to convey their plea to the Maoist leaders in the Maoist-dominated areas in adjoining Chhattisgarh, sources said.

Meanwhile, the district police have intensified vigil and scaled up security measures in agency areas in view of the sudden upsurge in Maoist activities along the porous inter-State border with Chhattisgarh.
