Farmers’protest gets shriller

June 07, 2014 12:10 am | Updated 12:10 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Protests against the State government’s plans to limit the farm loan waiver continued across Telangana on the second day on Friday as one more farmer died of cardiac arrest in Medak district, allegedly due to uncertainty over his eligibility to get the benefit.

In Nizamabad, farmers staged dharna by squatting across NH-44 at Kamareddy, Gargul, Sadasivanagar, Mamidipally and Bussapur. They raised slogans against Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.

Vehicular traffic was blocked by farmers at the inter-State Penganga river bridge on NH-44 in Jainad and Gudihatnoor mandals in Adilabad and at Chinna Shankarampet, Kalher, Narayanakhed and Zaheerabad in Medak.

An effigy of the Chief Minister was also burnt in a Gajwel constituency village.
