December 26, 2014 08:29 pm | Updated April 22, 2016 01:46 am IST - WARANGAL:

The farmers, who had 25 per cent of their loans waived, would get complete waiver in next three years, said Principal Secretary (Agriculture) Poonam Malakodaiah.

She reviewed the functioning of the department at the Collectorate here on Friday with Collector G. Kishan, Joint Collector Pousomi Basu and other officials. The State government would pay the rest of the loan amount in a phased manner. She asked all the departments engaged in subsidies and other assistance programmes to work in coordination for better results.

Revival of tanks

In the first phase of Mission Kakatiya, the government allotted funds for revival of 1,405 tanks. The Agriculture and Irrigation officials should prepare themselves for the launch of the programme soon, she said. The Agriculture Department should promote drip irrigation in a big way and encourage farmers to adopt the same, she said and wanted the dues of cotton farmers to be paid within three days of online procurements.
