November 29, 2014 12:28 am | Updated 12:28 am IST

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has agreed to give one extra holiday each for Bakr-Id, Ramzan and Christmas festivals to the employees of Muslim and Christian communities. However, the employees are required to work on a second Saturday or another day to compensate the work. The announcement was made by Mr Rao in the Assembly on Friday in response to a demand made by Akbaruddin Owaisi of MIM stating that all major festivals of Hindus have two holidays each and it should be extended to other communities too. Accordingly, one compensatory holiday each on the next day of Bakr-Id, Ramzan and Christmas would be given to the employees of the two communities and they would be required to compensate the work another day.
