Ecotourism to be developed in Nizamabad

April 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - NIZAMABAD:

The district administration has decided to focus on developing ecotourism in the area near Mallaram forest which is dotted with huge boulders.

The area is blessed with thick forest spreading up to Gandhari mandal.

The massive rocks found here are dated back to 200 years and a mushroom rock has already been declared a natural monument.

The lake nearby is an added attraction.

The administration tried to promote the area as a tourist spot with the initiative of the then Collector Ashok Kumar. But that was way back in 2000. After him, no one bothered to develop the place.

Now, the officials feel that it can be improved and has therefore selected it for their eco-tourist project.

Collector D. Ronald Rose, who visited the place on Saturday, has asked the officials to prepare an action plan and turn Mallaram forest into a tourist place.

He is of the opinion that the rocks here, which have naturally formed into attractive structures, would definitely entice tourists.
