Drama festival begins

April 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - KHAMMAM:

After successfully meeting its ambitious annual coal production target in the last fiscal, the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has initiated a new endeavour in the cultural sphere with the twin objectives of promoting theatre arts and boosting employee morale for achieving accelerated growth in coal output.

In line with its Human Resource Development policy, the company has launched a ‘drama festival’ involving noted theatre artistes of Sri Vinayaka Natya Mandali (Surabhi cultural troupe) to espouse the cause of theatre arts and provide entertainment for the employees and their family members of the coal belt region.

The cultural fete got off to a splendid start in Manuguru on Monday. The Surabhi artistes staged the popular mythological play – ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’ – at the inaugural ceremony of the programme held at the community hall in P.V. Colony in the coal town.
