Double-bedroom homes are dignity housing: KTR

TS will construct 2.6 lakh units, says Minister

The State government is providing double-bedroom houses to the poor as part of its slogan of dignity housing, said Minister for Municipal Administration and IT K. Taraka Rama Rao here on Friday.

The Minister, along with Telangana State Cooperative Apex Bank chairperson K. Ravinder Rao and Collector Krishna Bhaskar, launched the construction of double-bedroom houses for the oustees of the Sircilla Textile Park in Mandepalli village of Thangalapalli mandal. The government was constructing 1,260 double-bedroom houses at a cost of ₹76 crore. As many as 4,135 houses would be constructed in the Sircilla Assembly constituency, Mr. Rao said, instructing authorities to call for tenders.

Stating that the government would construct 2.6 lakh houses at a cost of ₹18,000 crore, he said Telangana was the only State in the country to allocate such a huge amount for double-bedroom houses. There would be no compromise on the quality, Mr. Rao assured.

The Minister said there would not be any political interfere in the selection of beneficiaries. The government would supply the required sand for the construction. He asked the authorities to take measures to provide drinking water and supply electricity, among other amenities, in the new colony.
