Doctor from Nalgonda stabbed to death in US

Achutha Reddy, a psychiatrist hailing from Nalgonda, practising at Wichita in Kansas in the USA was stabbed to death on the hospital premises on Wednesday night, local police reported. A suspect identified as Umar Dutt, 21, has reportedly been arrested in connection with the murder.

Achutha Reddy, 57, an alumni of Osmania Medical College was an American Board-certified psychiatrist and worked at the Holistic Psychiatric Services in Wichita. According to Lieutenant Drew Seiler of the Wichita police, the suspect had entered into a conversation with Dr. Reddy and during the course of the conversation, stabbed the doctor multiple times.

“The victim was found dead in Block 600 of North Carriage Parkway around 7.30 p.m.,” Seiler said. Dr. Reddy had been practising as a psychiatrist in Kansas for the past 20 years. A yoga enthusiast, he posted regular videos on YouTube through his channel — Achutha Reddy / Absolute Yoga.

For family members and relatives at his native place, Miryalguda, the news of Dr. Reddy’s murder came as a rude shock. Minister for IT K.Taraka Rama Rao expressed his condolences over the killing of Dr.Reddy on Twitter. Dr. Reddy is survived by his wife Bina Reddy and three children Radha, Lakshmi and Vishnu.
