The three accused involved in the killing of two deer in the forests of Palmela in Mahadevpur mandal last Sunday were remanded in 14-day judicial custody by the Manthani court on Saturday. Reports reaching here said that the police have arrested main accused N. Satyanarayana alias Satyanna, former employee of Singareni, residing in Centenary Colony in Ramagiri mandal in Peddapalli district, and hunters Md Kaleemullah Khan and Md Ali Qureshi of Mahadevpur mandal of Jayashankar-Bhupalapalli district, and produced them in court. The police seized the springfield weapon used in the killing of two deers and 150 rounds of ammunition from their possession.

The police also stated a TRS leader, husband of a local body public representative, Akbar Khan, and few others involved in the incident are also absconding. It may be recalled that the arrested hunters along with some others went to Sarvaipeta village in a car last Sunday night and after consuming liquor went for hunting into the forests. On noticing the deer, the main accused shot dead two of them and later the accused slit their throats and dumped their carcasses in the vehicle. When they were returning, the forest officials chased them.

However, they escaped by brandishing the fire-arm and leaving the vehicle. Following a complaint lodge by the forest officials, the Mahadevpur police registered a case under the Wildlife Protection Act, the Arms Act, and under other IPC sections. The police have launched manhunt to nab the other accused.
