The cell in which renowned Telugu poet and Freedom Fighter Dasarathi Krishnamacharya was incarcerated and the erstwhile district prison in which it is located would be developed as tourist spots, Advisor to Government of Telangana and Chairman State Brahmana Parishath K.V. Ramanachary said.

Paying a visit to the cell atop Quilla Indur or the Nizamabad Fort, here on Friday, he said he would take the issue of development of the cell and the jail to the notice of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao after discussing it with Tourism Minister A. Chandulal, Tourism Corporation Chairman Pervaram Ramulu and secretary B. Venkatesham Goud.

Inspirational life

Expressing happiness over the way the district administration organized celebrations marking the State Formation Day at Dasarathi Cell and in the fort, he said that the great poet, who was imprisoned during the last Nizam period, wrote his famous words “Na Telangana Koti Rathanala Veena” on the walls of his cell with charcoal pieces.

“I would bring back the originality to old writing consulting engineers. Telangana agitators waged struggles for the separate State taking these lines as an inspiration and achieved it at last.

Dasharathi Krishnamacharya was a great Freedom Fighter, poet and writer who fought against the Nizam for liberty and civil rights throughout his life,” said Ramanachary.

He watched pictures depicting the role of Dasarathi in Telangana Freedom Movement and his life, hung on the walls of cell. Earlier Mr. Ramanachary was received by Joint Collector A. Ravinder Reddy, officials and non-officials.
