A 17-year-old dumb Dalit girl was allegedly raped by an unidentified person in Inavolu village in Wardhannapet mandal of Warangal district late on Wednesday night.
According to police sources, the minor girl, who resides with her parents in SC colony in the village had ventured out around 11 pm to attend nature’s call, when an unidentified person gagged her mouth and alleged sexually assaulted her.
The girl had earlier in the night attended prayers in the colony and returned home. The assailant after raping her fled from the spot. The girl managed to reach the house and informed her father about the incident.
Police said they suspect the involvement of local youth as they had information that some persons were seen consuming alcohol. One of them might have seen the girl going out of the house and followed her.
Wardhannapet police registered a case and shifted the girl to local hospital for medical examination. Manhunt was launched to nab the culprit, police said.
