The Karimnagar Milk Producer Company Limited, also called Karimnagar dairy, which had won accolades for its welfare measures for milk producers in the State, has decided to launch another social security scheme ‘Arogyamasthu’ for dairy farmers.

Karimnagar dairy in association with Fourcess Insurance Brokerage Limited has decided to implement the health insurance scheme for all the dairy farmers. Under the scheme, a milk producer has to pay the premium of Rs. 900 per annum and the remaining Rs. 900 per annum would be contributed by the Karimnagar dairy.

The insurance scheme would be applicable for a period of one year and the beneficiaries could avail medical assistance worth Rs. 1 lakh at any of their choicest hospital. Talking to The Hindu on Sunday, Karimnagar dairy chairman Ch. Rajeshwara Rao said they would officially launch the scheme on August 25 by collecting the application forms from milk producers. After the enrolment of the beneficiaries, they would be provided with an identity card and they could avail cashless treatment in any private hospital in the district.

Mr. Rajeshwara Rao said that they were also planning to open clinics on their dairy premises and five milk chilling centres in various parts of the district to provide out-patient treatment to milk producers and their family members. Already, the dairy has implemented Janashree Bheema Yojana, which has been renamed as Aam Admi Bheema Yojana, for 24,000 dairy farmers who pay a premium of Rs. 180 per annum while the remaining Rs. 180 is paid by the dairy. Under the scheme, the family of those who die in accidents would get accidental death insurance of Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 50,000 for natural death.
